Whitby downs Lindsay in overtime, 4-3 (OT)
The Whitby Fury's Brock Welsh scored 4:20 into overtime to beat the Lindsay Muskies, 4-3 (OT).
Whitby was led by Welsh, who racked up one goal and one assist.
The Fury kept Lindsay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sean Green made 43 saves on 47 shots. Whitby could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game.
Whitby additionally got points from Nik Coric, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Scott Kirton, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Whitby also got a goal from Zack Fisher as well. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Jonathan OHara, who had two and Ryan Porter and Ryan Taylor, who each chipped in one.
The Muskies stifled the Fury's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lindsay's offense rang up 33 shots on Whitby's net.
The Muskies were helped by Cameron Lamport, who had one goal. Lamport scored 12:23 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Owen Barnett picked up the assist. Others who scored for Lindsay included James Allen and Cameron Harris, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Brock Traill, who had two and Josh Wainman, Hunter Hotrum, and Dayton Kent, who contributed one each.
Jordon White made 30 saves for the Fury on 33 shots. Whitby registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Lindsay incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
