MINOT, N.D -- The Beavers continued to bolster its offense with the addition of Kirklan Lycar. Lycar, is the first Beaver hockey player to be admitted since the inception of the Major Junior Hockey rule. In 2017, the ACHA changed a long standing rule allowing players who have played less than 10 game of major junior hockey. Previously, the rule was in place, deeming any player who plays at least one game of major junior hockey would loose all eligibility in the United States. Lycar becomes the first Beavers to take advantage after playing two games with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. This new rule is a huge blessing for the Beavers late in the summer.

Lycar comes to the Beavers have a standout career in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Lycar played a big role in the Oil Capitals historic 2018 playoff run, that saw them reach the league final for the first time in team history. Lycar finished the season with 67 points including 57 assists to lead the team and league. The addition of Lycar will no doubt add a boost to the offense.

"Kirk is definitely a great gift for us late in the recruiting process." Said Head Coach Wade Regier. "He is an extremely talented player who makes the players around him better. We lost some high offensive talent this off season, Kirk will help fill that void."

Kirklan becomes the 8th recruit this off season. You can see the entire list here.
