Linganore Tops In "A" JV
Linganore's jayvee capped a 20-1 season by winning the "A" tournament title, the program's first Mid-Maryland boys championship since 2015-16.
The Lancers were 17-1 in regular season play and won the Antietam division at 11-1. Their only setback was a 28-23 decision against Westminster.
In a 37-26 championship game victory over Middletown, their defense set the tone early, holding the Knights to just 2 points while stacking up 9 of their own, and ending the first quarter 9–2. The second quarter turned into a defensive tug‑of‑war. Middletown continued to struggle against Linganore’s pressure, and both teams found points hard to come by. Even in the grind, the Lancers stayed composed and extended their lead to 16–7 at halftime. After the break, the game finally opened up. The third quarter became the biggest scoring frame for both sides, with each team knocking down a pair of 3‑pointers and attacking the rim for easy layups. Middletown showed signs of life, but Linganore matched every surge and carried a 31–21 advantage into the final quarter. The fourth was everything a championship finish should be—tight defense, physical play, and every possession fought for. Scoring slowed to a crawl as both teams battled with everything they had. But Linganore’s discipline, pressure, and ability to control the pace proved decisive. As the final seconds ticked away, the Lancers secured a hard‑earned victory. Linganore was led by Henry Keefer with 11-points. Middletown was led by Higgins Poffenbarger with 10-points.
