Sportsmanship, on all levels, is not an expectation of our Mid-Maryland League. It's a requirement. With that in mind, the League enacted new Sportsmanship measures recently, including the signing of a “Code of Conduct” by every League player, parent, coach and administrator.

Our League administration takes pride in providing a highly organized and competitive program in which youth learn basketball as well as life skills. That includes learning to respect peers and opponents alike. And our players don't learn that if parents and coaches don't exhibit the same qualities.

Take a minute to read some very valuable sportsmanship tips and a parent/coaches guide to sportsmanship. T

And let our League administration know when unsportsmanlike conduct takes place. We have a review board that can take corrective action. We never enjoy taking such drastic steps but have and will continue to discipline coaches and will not hesitate to ask a disruptive parent to leave a gym.
