HAWKS STRUGGLE THROUGH TOUGH WEEKEND

MSU fell below .500 with a pair of losses to division leading Army on Friday and a tough 6-5 loss to Marist on Saturday. Army, who came into the game having yet to lose a game in regulation this season, steamrolled over the Red Hawks 8-1. That thrashing seemed to carry over on Saturday, when MSU didn't seem to have the energy to defend as strongly as they would have liked against a Marist team they defeated earlier in the season. The Red Hawks were able to put five in the net, but a first period, shorthanded goal for Marist came back to haunt them in the 6-5 loss. Things don't get any easier for MSU as the next two games are versus a strong Westfield State team.
