Red Hawks Split Opening Weekend in DVCHC
On Friday, the Red Hawks traveled to Towson University to play their first game of the 2018/2019 campaign. Right Victoria Nicolosi opened the scoring for the Red Hawks and that opened the door for Marlissa Falduto and Nora Fogarty to follow suit. Leading 4-1 after the first period, Falduto added goals 2,3, and 4 to complete the hat trick and take the game with the final score of 8-1. Newcomer Hope McGivney also added her first as a Red Hawk in the victory. Goaltender Kaye Ferguson stopped 13 of 14 shots in her 2018/2019 debut in net.
On Saturday, the Red Hawks would fall to Villanova by a score of 5-2. In the penalty box mist of the game, the Red Hawks hing in the contest as long as they could, but could not rally late to win the game. Goals from Sara Schotanus and Hope McGivney weren't enough to sustain the team through 10 shorthanded opportunities given.
The Red Hawks will battle Columbia on Saturday 10/20/18 in their next scheduled game.
