Calhoun's walk-off single send the Torrington Titans home winners, 9-8
A walk-off single from Langston Calhoun brought home the winning run for the Torrington Titans (1-0) in a 9-8 victory over the Nashua Silver Knights in 11 innings at Fuessenich Park on Saturday.
Calhoun racked up two RBIs on four hits for the Torrington Titans. He doubled in the ninth inning and singled in the second, fifth, and eleventh innings.
Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 17 total runs and 26 hits during the game. There were nine pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.
David Gerics got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Travis Landry couldn't get it done on the bump for the Nashua Silver Knights (0-1), taking a loss. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one run.
