NESCAC Championship Returns to Nashua
The 2016 NESCAC Baseball Championship will return to Holman Stadium on May 13th. Wesleyan will look to defend their title as they defeated Amherst in extra innings of the championship in 2015.
Format
The top two teams in each division shall qualify for the NESCAC Baseball Championship. The double elimination Championship will be played at Holman Stadium (Nashua, N.H.) and be hosted by the East Division winner beginning Friday, May 13 through Sunday, May 15. The tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Selection
Pairings will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season. The top two teams in each division shall qualify for the tournament and will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
- NESCAC divisional games won
- NESCAC divisional winning percentage
- Head-to-head results
- Overall winning percentage
- Coin flip
Tournament Schedule (One-Field Format)
Day 1 - Friday, May 13
Game 1: East No. 1 vs. West No. 2 - 3 p.m.
Game 2: West No. 1 vs. East No. 2 - 7 p.m.
Day 2 - Saturday, May 14
Game 3: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2 - 10 a.m.
Game 4: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2 - 2 p.m.
Game 5: Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4 - 6 p.m.
Day 3 - Sunday, May 15
Game 6: Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5 - 10 a.m.
If necessary, game 7 shall be played 30 minutes after conclusion of game 6 with the same two teams.
