Silver Knights Sweep Raging Tide
Nashua, NH – The Silver Knights swept the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide to put them back into a first place tie with the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. Nashua won the first game 6-0 and 2-1 in the second.
In the first game Tom Hudon (Saint Anselm College) threw a complete game shutout allowing four hits, two walks, and striking out three. He now leads the FCBL with a 1.49 ERA.
In the second game Nashua native Jake Mellin (University of Hartford) went six innings allowing one run (earned) on four hits, three walks, and striking out one. He improved to 4-0 on the season.
The Silver Knights’ offense was led by Jimmy Ricoy (UMass Lowell) (4 for 7 with an RBI and two runs), Connor Lyons (Northeastern) (2 for 7 with an RBI, a run, and two stolen bases), and Matt Mottola (UMass Lowell) (3 for 7 with two runs).
Cody Rocha (Assumption College) came into the second game to pick up his 16th save of the season. He is now one behind Adam Zipko (Millersville University) of the New Market Rebels for most saves in all of collegiate summer league baseball.
The Silver Knights improve to 32-17 on the season and are tied for first place in the FCBL. Tomorrow they head to Martha’s Vineyard to take on the Sharks. This will be the last meeting of the regular season between the top two teams in the FCBL.
