Week 3 Review: Marian sweeps, Marquette and Lewis split
Marian University now sits firmly in first place in the Black Division standings after sweeping DePaul University. With their four point weekend Marian sits three points clear of second place Marquette University. The Marian offense kept rolling, scoring seven goals in each contest, which is right on their historical average against DePaul. In the previous six contests DePaul had scored more than two goals just once, however in this series they were finally able to produce a bit more offense and found the back of the net four times in game one and three times in game two.
Marquette was not able to keep pace with Marian, having split with Lewis University, but they did move up to second place. Game one of the series needed extra time and in overtime Lewis was finally able to find that first conference win of the season. Unfortunately for Lewis the good vibes were short lived. The next game Marquette came out with a vengeance, scoring 12 goals while shutting out Lewis.
Results from non-conference action over the weekend were Concordia University WI swept by Florida Gulf Coast University, Purdue University Northwest split with University of Akron and lost to Bowling Green State University, and Roosevelt University swept by Maryville University.
