Blue Sox Jump to No. 6 in Top 25
Holyoke, MA - Only two New England Collegiate Baseball League teams found themselves inside the Perfect Game USA weekly Top 25 Rankings on Wednesday, the Keene Swamp Bats and the Holyoke Blue Sox, while a lot of teams were left on the outside looking in.
Both of these squads are off to hot starts this season as Keene and Holyoke are battling it out for the top position in the Western Division of the NECBL, and have already faced each other twice this season.
The Swamp Bats came in ranked No. 17, but the Blue Sox made the biggest splash as they jumped from No. 9 to No. 6 in the newest rankings, and have the chance to take the No. 1 spot in next week's rankings considering the strength of their schedule this week.
The Blue Sox face the Newport Gulls on Thursday, Vermont Mountaineers on Saturday, Mystic Schooners on Sunday and Old Orchard Beach on Monday. Two of those games are on the road while two games will be played at MacKenzie Stadium.
The Blue Sox are the only NECBL team in the Top 10 of the rankings which includes teams from most notably the Cape Cod League and the California Collegiate League.
