Early lead not enough for the North Shore Navigators, drop 5-2 decision to the Marthas Vineyard Sharks
The North Shore Navigators (0-2) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-2 to the Marthas Vineyard Sharks (1-1) on Thursday.
While the North Shore Navigators led until the fifth inning, the Marthas Vineyard Sharks worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Ricky Surum.
It was a good day at the plate for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks' Donovan Casey. Casey went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth and sixth innings.
Steve Xirinachs had an impressive outing against the Marthas Vineyard Sharks' lineup. Xirinachs held the Marthas Vineyard Sharks hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Evan Roberts recorded his first win of the year for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks. Roberts struck out one, walked one and gave up one hit.
John Lavoie (0-1) took the loss for the North Shore Navigators. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed no runs.
