M1 Niagara University wins tough contest against M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania, 6-4

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the M1 Niagara University Purple Eagles escaped with a 6-4 victory over the M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania Colonials.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Patrick Gregory at 6:27 of the third period.

Austin Wharry and Gregory provided the spark for M1 Niagara University, combining for three goals and two assists. Wharry registered two goals and one assist and Gregory also notched one goal and one assist.

The Purple Eagles struggled on the penalty kill, allowing M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania to score two power play goals on three chances. The defensemen of M1 Niagara University were also effective in the Colonials' zone, and came away with two goals.

M1 Niagara University also got points from Michael Skopinski, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Gregory, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for M1 Niagara University included Tyler Stockwell and David Hazelet, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Niagara University were Dallas Szustak, who had three and Andrew Mitch, Dalton Bew, Zachary Seither, and Alexander Wagner, who each chipped in one.

M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game the Colonials had been spending in the box. M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four M1 Niagara University power plays. By firing 19 shots on goal, the Colonials exceeded the 14.6 shots they average per game this year.

M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania was helped by Andrew Lister, who grabbed two goals. Lister scored the first of his two goals at 6:43 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Kurt Schmidt assisted on the tally. Lister's next tally made the score 3-3 with 3:17 left in the second period. The Colonials earned a power play opportunity when Jeffrey Monfils was put in the box for cross checking. Travis Reece picked up the assist. M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania additionally got points from Mason Krueger, who also registered one goal and one assist. Joe Boyer also scored for M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania. In addition, M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania received assists from Justin Rehrer, who had three and Carlos Quevedo Biel and Nick Fischer, who contributed one each.

Mike Parda recorded 15 saves for the Purple Eagles. M1 Niagara University incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alex Blum made 19 saves for M1 Robert Morris Univ Pennsylvania on 25 shots.
