After only three practices, the Gloucester Rangers Minor Peewee A team headed out for their first road trip of the season to Richmond Hill and brought home a pre-season cup! The team went undefeated and captured the Richmond Hill Stars AA Tournament Championship in an exciting 6-3 win over the TNT Tornados.  After giving up the first goal, the Rangers offense came to life, led by new Ranger Riley Bloom, who scored his first hat trick of the season in the championship game.

The team opened up the tournament by beating the host team Richmond Hill Stars 2-1 on Friday afternoon, in a game that saw goalie Griffin Thibault earn his first win in a Rangers jersey.  The team followed that up with a decisive 4-0 win over the Kent Cobras later in the day.  Our Rangers then went on to beat the Goulding Park Rangers 4-1 on Saturday morning before enjoying a 2-1 win over the Caledon Hawks on Saturday afternoon.  They finished second in round robin play, earning them a spot in Sunday’s semi-final game.

The Rangers continued their winning streak in a solid 4-2 win in the semis over the Pickering Panthers before their convincing victory over TNT in the championship game late Sunday afternoon.  The championship victory and a perfect 6-0 record made the long and late journey back to Ottawa a happy ride home for the boys.

What a great start for this team, which includes several players wearing a Rangers jersey for the first time.  Congratulations to Coach Kevin Graham and the rest of the coaching staff on this impressive pre-season victory!
