Port Perry beats North Kawartha 7-0 as Nichols gets hat trick

Ryan Nichols netted a hat trick to lead the Port Perry Mojacks over the North Kawartha Knights, 7-0.

Nichols got on the scoresheet 5:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:37 into the second and at 17:18 into the second.

Port Perry stifled North Kawartha's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mojacks' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Knights. Port Perry gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. The Mojacks outdid their season average for goals scored. Port Perry averages 4.1 goals per game.

Port Perry also got points from Kyle Powell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Evan Wasylyk, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Lucas Clark, who also registered one goal and two assists. Stevie Sampson also scored for Port Perry. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Lucas Berkers, Cole Murray, Ryan Bernardes, and Konrad Piorkowski, who contributed one each and Todd McNair and Jeff St. Pierre, who each chipped in two.

North Kawartha's offense operated below its season average. The Knights average 2.2 goals per game.

The Mojacks' Blake Shaw stopped 15 shots out of the 15 that he faced. Port Perry incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. North Kawartha took out James Hack after he had made seven saves and installed Liam Murray in goal, where he finished with 14 saves and the loss. The Knights incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
