Mooretown outlasts Essex, 4-3

The Mooretown Flags gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Essex 73s.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ryan Lyle secured the win for Mooretown with a goal in the third period.

Cameron Rannie had two goals and one assist to lead the Flags. Rannie scored the first of his two goals at 7:01 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Daytona Harrison provided the assist. Rannie's next tally made the score 3-3 with 2:07 left in the second period. Christian Lyle assisted on the tally.

Parker Gilhuly also scored for Mooretown. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Kyle Smith, Joe DeSena, and Trevor Bogaert, who contributed one each.

Essex's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mooretown power plays. The 73s' offense rang up 42 shots on Mooretown's net.

Essex was helped by Tyler Scott, who tallied one goal. Scott scored 12:05 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Essex. Dan Mainella provided the assist. Others who scored for Essex included Brett Vorshuk and William Stadder, who scored one goal each. More assists for Essex came via Anthony Cristofaro, who had two and Luke Gecse and Michael Vieira, who each chipped in one.

Brandon Johnson rejected 39 shots on goal for the Flags. Mooretown incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Badour recorded 22 saves for the 73s. Essex incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
