OJHL Teams Fail to Make Finals of Eastern Canada Cup Challenge

TEAM HAWERCHUK FALLS IN SEMI-FINAL

Branden Makara gave CCHL YZERMAN the lead in the first period, and OJHL HAWERCHUK was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 1-0.

CCHL YZERMAN took over the lead for good with a goal by Makara at 4:10 in the first period. Cale List provided the assist.
CCHL YZERMAN was led by Makara, who tallied one goal.

In addition, CCHL YZERMAN received assists from Jim Pearson, who had one.

OJHL HAWERCHUK managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. OJHL HAWERCHUK finished below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. CCHL YZERMAN's defense shut down OJHL HAWERCHUK's forwards for much of the game, and OJHL HAWERCHUK got off only 12 shots during the contest.

CCHL YZERMAN's Ryan Coughlin stopped 12 shots out of the 12 that he faced. CCHL YZERMAN incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. OJHL HAWERCHUK's starting goalie, Nathan Colitto, made 12 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Stefano Durante, who stopped nine shots. OJHL HAWERCHUK registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.

QJHL UPENDS TEAM COFFEY IN SEMI-FINAL

The game between QJHL and OJHL COFFEY was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end QJHL emerged with a 4-3 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jeremy Auger at 6:24 of the second period.

Antoine Pouliot was all over the ice for QJHL, as he registered two goals in the win. Pouliot's tallies came at 43 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 QJHL and 57 seconds into the second to make the score 2-2.

QJHL put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OJHL COFFEY to score on any of its three power plays.

Jonathan Ouellet also scored for QJHL. More assists for QJHL came via Felix Boucher, Jonathan Fillion, Pascal Corbeil, Joel Caron, and Tommy Lapierre, who contributed one each.

OJHL COFFEY was helped by Kevin Lavoie, who finished with one goal. Lavoie scored 9:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mario Ferraro picked up the assist. Others who scored for OJHL COFFEY included Josh Dickinson and Chris Sekelyk, who scored one goal each. In addition, OJHL COFFEY received assists from Jon Hudgin, Thomas Beretta, and Noah Jordan, who each chipped in one.

Sebastien Dube-Rochon made 16 saves for QJHL on 19 shots. QJHL incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nick Latinovich recorded 25 saves for OJHL COFFEY. OJHL COFFEY incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
