Paris blows out Delhi, 8-0
The Paris Mounties had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-0 win over the Delhi Travellers.
Brodie Smith had two goals and one assist to lead Paris. Smith scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris. The Mounties had gained a power play chance when Mitchell Graham was whistled for high sticking. Keegan Alvestad provided the assist. Smith's next tally on the power play made the score 8-0 Paris with 9:32 left in the third period. Griffin Heitshu picked up the assist.
Delhi was unable to stop Paris from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mounties eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Paris' goal total was higher than its season average. The Mounties have scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.
Paris also got points from Austin Sine, who also had one goal and two assists, Brett Wilson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Austin Kovrig, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Paris also had goals scored by Mikael Ruffini, Patrick Snell, and Tysen Willemsen, who each put in one. In addition, Paris received assists from Brady Wheelans, who had two and Mitchell Harvey, Jacob Norcott, Cole Corriveau, Zach Taylor, and Garrett Kirby, who each chipped in one.
The Travellers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Delhi puts an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. Paris' defense shut down the Travellers' forwards for much of the game, and Delhi got off only 13 shots during the contest.
Jake Gooder rejected 13 shots on goal for the Mounties. Paris incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kodie Oude recorded 37 saves for the Travellers. Delhi incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
