PJHL: South & West Conference playoffs update

The Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) playoffs are well under way in the South and West Conferences and action continues this week in each series. Here’s how each series stacks up in both conferences.

SOUTH CONFERENCE
Doherty Division Finals

 (1) Tavistock Braves vs. Wellesley Applejacks (2)
Tavistock trounced Wellesley 8-3 in the opening game of the Doherty Division finals on March 9. The Applejacks will look to even things up at 1-1 in Game 2 of the series tonight (March 11). Game 3 of the Doherty Division finals will be played March 13 in Tavistock.

Tavistock leads series 1-0

HOW THEY GOT HERE
Doherty Division quarterfinals: Tavistock defeats Burford 4-0; Wellesley defeats New Hamburg 4-2
Doherty Division semifinals: Tavistock defeats Woodstock 4-0; Wellesley defeats Ayr 4-2

 

Bloomfield Division Finals

(1) Grimsby Peach Kings vs. Glanbrook Rangers (3)
The Bloomfield Division finals is a rematch of the 2019 finals and features the Grimsby Peach Kings and Glanbrook Rangers. The Peach Kings lead the series 2-1 through three games. Game 4 of the series goes tonight (March 11) at Glanbrook Arena. The winner of the series advances to play in the South Conference finals.

Bloomfield Division quarterfinals: Grimsby defeats Dunnville 4-0; Glanbrook defeats Niagara 4-1
Bloomfield Division semifinals: Grimsby defeats Hespeler 4-0; Glanbrook defeats Hagersville 4-0

WEST CONFERENCE
Stobbs Division Finals

 (1) Lakeshore Canadiens vs. Mooretown Flags (2)
In the Stobbs Divison, the Lakeshore Canadiens and Mooretown Flags will compete for the division title. Game 1 of the series Fri., March 13 in Lakeshore at Atlas Centre. Entering the series Lakeshore boasts a perfect 8-0 record through two rounds. Mooretown is 8-1 in nine playoff games so far. The series winner will not only win the Stobbs Division but they’ll advance to participate in the West Conference finals.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
Stobbs Division quarterfinals: Lakeshore defeats Blenheim 4-0; Mooretown defeats Dresden 4-0
Stobbs Division semifinals: Lakeshore defeats Essex 4-1; Mooretown defeats Amherstburg 4-0

 

Yeck Division Finals

(1) Thamesford Trojans vs. Exeter Hawks (2)

In what was the PJHL’s closest divison all regular season long, the two top teams from the Yeck Division will play one another in the division finals. The series gets under way Fri., March 13 in Thamesford, while Game 2 will be played at the South Huron Rec Centre in Exeter. Whoever wins the series will play in the West Conference finals.

Yeck Division quarterfinals: Thamesford defeats Port Stanley 4-0; Exeter defeats Lucan 4-0
Yeck Division semifinals: Thamesford defeats Dorchester 4-1; Exeter defeats Mt. Brydges 4-1
