BANDITS STEAL THE CUP!
MARCH 10 – The 2013 OHA Cup Major Midget AA Champions are the London Bandits.
With a big 5-2 win the Bandits took the inaugural championship from the Aurora Tigers who came out hard right from the opening faceoff.
The Bandits kicked things off with a big goal from Kurtis Colbran just a little over a minute into the opening frame. The Tigers answered back with a big goal six minutes later when team Captain Quincy Ing netted a big tying goal.
The second period was all Bandits. Goals poured in when Nick Griffin, Connor Lyttle and Matt Johnson managed to all but solidify the Bandit victory. Another goal in the third period by Griffin put the Bandits ahead for the remainder of the game. A late goal by Tigers forward Brett Thiessen was all but too late.
At the completion of the game OHA Cup Chairman Tony Foresi, OHA CEO Scott Farley, OMHA President Joyce Junker and CMHA President John Van Breda presented the Bandits club with their championship trophy.
