Ayr falls to Paris in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Brady Wheelans gave the Paris Mounties a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Ayr Centennials when he scored 57 seconds into the extra period.

Paris almost relinquished a three-score lead. The Mounties made it 3-0 on a goal by Ryan Stephenson at 6:47 in the third period. Ayr pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Mitch Klie at 19:08 in the third period.

The Centennials were unable to stop Paris from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mounties eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Paris also had goals scored by Brett Wilson and Cole Corriveau, who each put in one. In addition, Paris received assists from Vincent Robbins, who had two and Devan Schneider AP and Garrett Kirby, who contributed one each.

Ayr forced Mounties' goalies to work without much rest, taking 43 shots and forcing 40 saves. Hayden Padalino made five stops and Zach Shomphe made 35. The Centennials' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Paris power plays. Ayr's offense operated below its season average. The Centennials put an average of 5.2 pucks into the net per game.

Others who scored for Ayr included Jake Whibbs and Tyler Harrison, who scored one goal each. More assists for Ayr came via Cash Seraphim, who had two and Connor MacLean and Carver Ormiston, who each chipped in one.

Paris incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mitch Figueirdo recorded 34 saves for Ayr. The Centennials incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
