Cummings lifts Ayr over Burford, 8-2

The Ayr Centennials relied on the scoring touch of Cole Cummings, who netted two goals, to beat the Burford Bulldogs, 8-2.

Cummings scored at 14:50 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ayr and again while on the power play 5:18 into the third to make the score 5-2 Ayr.

The win gave Ayr a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Centennials' offense rang up 49 shots on Burford's net.

Ayr additionally got points from Riley Clipper, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Zachary Masterson, who also had one goal and one assist, Quinn Diamond, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Cash Seraphim, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ayr included Jackson White and Mitch Klie, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Ayr were Tyler Harrison, who had three, Mackenzie Kemp, Ben Roelofson, Connor MacLean, Carver Ormiston, and Brendan Schaefer, who each chipped in one, and Jake Whibbs and Jordan Pettitt, who contributed two each.

The Bulldogs were helped by Tyson Lafrance, who finished with one goal. Lafrance scored on the power play 12:47 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Ayr. Burford earned a power play opportunity when MacLean was put in the box for cross checking. Matt Zilke picked up the assist. Burford also got a goal from David Denardi as well. In addition, Burford received assists from Owen Hinch, Jensen DaSilva, and Kurtis Christo, who each chipped in one.

Mitch Figueirdo recorded 25 saves for Ayr. The Centennials incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Michael Black made 41 saves for the Bulldogs on 49 shots. Burford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
