Ayr wins tough contest against New Hamburg, 3-2

The win gave Ayr a one-zero lead in the best of seven series.

Centennials pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes.

Ayr were led by Zachary Masterson, who grabbed one goal. Masterson scored in the third period to make the score 3-2 Ayr. The goal was assisted by Cole Cummings and Jordan Pettitt.

Centennials's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having nine power play opportunities.Ayr kept Firebirds's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Purcell made 36 saves on 39 shots.

Ayr also had goals scored by Riley Clipper and Ben Roelofson, who each put in one. In addition, Ayr received assists from Carver Ormiston, Jake Whibbs, Connor MacLean, Pettitt, Sean Mitchell, and Cummings, who each chipped in one.

New Hamburg stifled Centennials's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.Firebirds kept Ayr's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitch Figueirdo made 43 saves on 45 shots.

New Hamburg were helped by Tyler Randerson, who registered one goal.Randerson scored on the power play in the second period to make the score 2-1 New Hamburg. The score was assisted by Quinten Haddock and Carter Tracey.New Hamburg additionally got points from Tracey, who also registered one goal and one assist. New Hamburg also got a goal from Randerson as well. More assists for New Hamburg came via Haddock, who had two and Walker Davison, who had one.

Centennials incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Firebirds incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
