Blades big line too much for Sharks
The Blenheim Blades, behind a 10 point night by their big line of Nick Delyzer, Dede Cato and Drew Marlatt, ran their Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division record to 4-1-0 thanks to a 6-2 victory over the Wheatley Sharks Thursday night at the Blenheim arena.
The victory, the Blades fourth in five league starts, moved them into a tie for first place at eight points with the idle Lakeshore Canadiens and the Mooretown Flags.
Next action for the Blades will be Sunday when they host the Dresden Kings at 7 p.m.
Cato, who is leading the division in scoring with seven goals and six assists for 13 points, scored twice and set up another, with Delyzer netting his fifth and sixth tallies and adding two assists, while Marlatt had a goal and two assists.
Rookie Lucas Fancy had the other Blades goal, his third.
Defenceman Brayden Seliga had two assists, with Derek Hueni, Johnny Montgomery, Austin Bentley, Carter Wright and Fancy chipping in with one each.
Delany MacDonald, on a powerplay, and Drew Denomey scored for the Sharks.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, with the Blades breaking things open in the second scoring four times before the clubs traded a goal each in the final 20 minutes.
Goalie Eric Stewardson ran his season record to four wins against no defeats with a sparkling goals against average on 1.99.
