Blades add veteran Laker defenceman Noah Tetrault
The Blenheim Blades made their first move to fill the two major blueline holes left by the graduation of veterans Brayden Seliga and Johnny Montgomery by acquiring another veteran defenceman – Noah Tetrault – from the Wallaceburg Lakers.
Tetrault, who stands well over six feet tall and weighs in at 190 pounds, hails from Pain Court, and played the 2016-17 and 2017-18 Provincial Junior Hockey League seasons with the Lakers seeing action in 78 games.
A stay-at-home defenceman, Tetrault had a goal and nine assists to go with 198 penalty minutes.
"The Blades are extremely happy to obtain Noah,” said Blades general manager Lonnie Hamilton. “He is a 6’4” defenseman who plays a very physical game. He’s also a great kid, a leader on and off of the ice, and will be an important addition to the blueline and the Blades family."
The Blades, besides losing Seliga and Montgomery to overage, will also start the season without veterans Bryce Broad and Eric Stewardson. Broad, a forward, and Stewardson, a goalie, are like their two teammates too old to play Junior hockey.
Forward Josh Oberg, who the Blades picked up from the Lakers at Christmas last year, also won’t be back.
