Blades fall goal short, lose to Lakeshore 2-1
LAKESHORE – It was close but no cigar Friday night when the Blenheim Blades traveled to Lakeshore to take on the Lakeshore Canadiens in a Provincial Junior Hockey League Stobbs Division game.
Both teams scored in the first period, and it stayed that way until halfway through the third frame before Steven Sartor netted the eventual winner for the Canadiens at 9:08.
With the loss, the Blades record now stands at two wins and two losses with the Canadiens coming to town Sunday for a 7 p.m. rematch at the Blenheim arena.
Lakeshore is now 3-1-0-1 for seven points, while the Blades have four points with their 2-2-0-0 record.
The Canadiens’ Jarrett Tazzman put his club up 1-0 at 6:31 of the first 20 minutes with the Blades Cam Symons tying things thanks to a powerplay goal at 9:35.
The tally was the second of the season for Symons, and was assisted by Kier Cumming and veteran Keegan MacVoy.
The score stayed that way until Sartor beat Blades goalie Chris DeWulf in the third period.
Blenheim put the pressure on over the last 10 minutes but was unable to get one past Lakeshore netminder Erik Morneau.
