Hometown Hockey night
Friday night was Rogers Hometown Hockey Night in Dresden when the Blenheim Blades paid a visit to play the Dresden Kings. A crowd of 850 was in attendance to watch the game, won by the Blades 8-3, as well as various other things before and between the periods. Saturday night the Lambton-Kent Memorial Arena will be re-named the Ken Houston Memorial Arena, and one of the events Friday was a ceremonial puck drop prior to the opening faceoff. On hand to drop the puck between Blades’ captain Dede Cato, left, and Kings’ captain Cory Lucier, right, was the late Ken Houston’s wife Susan, flanked by Rogers Hometown Hockey’s Tara Sloan and Ron McLean. Also pictured are Kings’ president Dave Cameron, left, and Chatham-Kent’s town crier George Sims. (Heather Smith photo)
