Lakeshore Seeks Commanding Lead
Lakeshore, ON - In the playoffs, a win is a win.
Many expected the Canadiens to lead their PJHL Quarterfinal series 2-0 at this point, but few predicted both games would be decided in overtime.
Lakeshore gets a chance to take a stronghold of the series tonight as they host the Petrolia Flyers in Game 3 at the Atlas Tube Centre. Puck drops is at 7:00pm.
Canadiens Head Coach, Justin Solcz says it's been a tough series for his club.
"Petrolia is competing hard, playing great defense and getting great goaltending," Solcz comments. "It's playoff hockey and you have to compete and find a way to win every night."
He's quick to point out that despite the team having to play overtime in both games, he's been impressed with certain aspects of their play.
"I'm very proud of our guys' resilience and perseverance," Solcz admits. "To make a run in this league we're going to find ourselves in many more close games and we have to do what it takes to win, and we've done that."
The Canadiens trailed Petrolia 4-3 in Game 2 before Jake Nimmo scored with 7.7 seconds remaining in regulation, a huge goal for a kid who continues to impress.
Solcz is the first to point out his value to the team.
"Jake has been a great player for us all season," Solcz says. "He plays key minutes in all situations and scores timely goals. He's a great player and an even better person and it's been a pleasure to watch him develop."
Lakeshore will be without forward Nick Tavolieri-Essex tonight, who is serving a one game suspension.
Canadiens goaltender Colin Tetreault was hit by a puck around the neck in Game 2, leaving the contest and did not return.
"He is fine and we're expecting a solid game from him tonight," Solcz explains.
Game 4 of the series will be played Thursday night in Petrolia.
