Canadiens Reflect On Season After Loss
Lakeshore, ON - After falling to the Essex 73's in the PJHL Stobbs Division Finals on Tuesday night, the Lakeshore Canadiens have begun looking to the future and learning from the past.
"It was a classic example of the old saying that good team defence beats a good offence," Lakeshore Head Coach, Justin Solcz said. "Their forecheck was relentless, they controlled the neutral zone and they dominated the special teams battle. That's what it takes to win."
The Canadiens coach quickly turned his message in a positive direction, highlighting the achievements of a team that finished in first place in the Stobbs Division with 63 points, had the highest goals-for total with 229 and made their first finals since 2014.
"Our team had a great season," Solcz says confidently. "At the end of the day only one team wins their final game and unfortunately this year it wasn't us. We'll take this experience and learn from it for the future."
The team now points their attention to the 2017-18 season, already announcing their spring camps that will take place on April 29th and 30th at the Atlas Tube Centre.
It's early in the offseason, but Solcz likes the team coming back to wear the red, white and blue next year.
"We will have quite a few returning players and they'll be hungry," Solcz remarks. "It's our job as a staff to recruit quality individuals to help us compete for another championship in '17-'18. It's already our goal for next season and we want to be the ones winning their last game."
