Glanbrook penalty kill dominates in 5-1 defeat of Dunnville

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Glanbrook Rangers were able to defeat the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats, 5-1.

Glanbrook was paced by Justin Whitwell, who racked up one goal. Whitwell scored short handed 4:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Glanbrook. The Rangers played down a man on Brandon Kolaski's cross checking. Curtis Zahorodni assisted on the tally.

Glanbrook excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Rangers kept Dunnville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jesse Schoeman made 26 saves on 31 shots. Glanbrook's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Glanbrook additionally got points from Tyler Bell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Chris Haigh, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Nicholas Sherwood, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brett Farrelly also scored for Glanbrook. More assists for Glanbrook came via Michael Fortino, Cameron Lapointe, and Josh Anger, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Mudcats did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Dunnville puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Mudcats found themselves short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays.

Matthew Venturelli made 22 saves for the Rangers on 23 shots. Glanbrook incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
