Stratford erases deficit to stun Waterloo, 5-3
The Waterloo Siskins could not hold down the Stratford Cullitons, and Cullitons erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 5-3 win.
Stratford never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Cullitons was down 3-0 after a power play goal by Waterloo's Nate Schnarr at 16:27 in the first period. Stratford knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Zander Pryor at 9:30 in the second period. The Cullitons netted the game winner on the power play at 15:49 in the second period on a goal by Pryor.
After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, the Siskins face elimination next time out.
Hayden Broomhead was all over the ice for Stratford, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win.
The Cullitons forced Siskins' goaltenders to work all game long, ripping 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Mitchell Datz made 19 stops and Bailey DeGasperis made eight.
Stratford additionally got points from Anthony Kotsovos, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Jack Scanlan, who also racked up one goal and two assists. More assists for Stratford came via Joe Leahy, who had two and Jared Nash, Josh Higgins, Tristan Hohl, and Josh Miller, who each chipped in one.
Waterloo's offense rang up 43 shots on Stratford's net.
Waterloo also got points from Conner Jean, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Andrew Lane, who had two and Owen Kipke, who had three.
Alexander Brooks-Potts rejected 40 shots on goal for the Cullitons. Stratford totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. The Cullitons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brock Heshka was ejected from the game. The Siskins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
