Two More NCAA Committments
October 16, 2017 — RYAN NICHOLSON
The Stratford Warriors Hockey Operations are very pleased to announce that 2nd year Defenceman 18 year old Ryan Nicholson has committed to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT Tigers) in Rochester, New York for the 2019-20 season with the RIT Tigers Men's Hockey program. Ryan joins another Mid-Western Conference GOJHL Alumni, Adam Brubacher with the RIT Tigers. Adam recently attended the NHL Vancouver Canucks Development Camp as a Free Agent.
Nicholson, the 6'2" 185 lb left handed Stratford Warriors defender hails from Mississauga, Ontario. Ryan has tallied 17 Goals, 25 Assists, 42 points in 64 regular season and playoff games for the Warriors since he signed with the club in September 2016. Ryan is a fantastic fluid skater with gifted hockey offensive instincts. He fits very well into the NCAA player development model of our hockey program and we are very proud of his accomplishments. Ryan was the club's Rookie of the Year in 2016 and voted the team's best defenceman by his peers and his coaches.
December 3, 2017 — KALEB PEARSON
The Stratford Warriors Hockey Club are very proud and pleased to announce the NCAA Division 1 commitment of 17 year old Kaleb Pearson to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
Pearson is a 6'0 180 lbs Centre\RW where he currently leads the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League in Rookie scoring with 19 goals at 17 assists in 26 games played with Stratford. Kaleb was highly recruited this off season and chose to play with the Warriors as the best opportunity for him to develop and be successful both on and off the ice.
Pearson hails from St. Marys, Ontario and he is thoroughly excited to join the RIT Tigers in the near future.
The Stratford Warriors now have had four Division 1 NCAA scholarship commitments Joe Leahy (Cornell), Jared Nash (Anchorage-Alaska), Ryan Nicholson (RIT), Kaleb Pearson (RIT), Alex Brooks Potts (Brock University), NCAA Division 3 (Zander Pryor at Nazareth College), AHL official (Tyson Baker), Mason Hardy (Mississauga Steelheads, OHL), Jack Wieringa (Moncton Wildcats, QMJHL), and Hugh Anderson (Dubuque Fighting Saints, USHL) in the last two and a half seasons.
The Stratford Hockey Club continues to be a flagship NCAA player development hockey program with over 30 players advancing to NCAA, CIS, OHL and all levels of professional hockey in the last 10 years and many more prior to that. The Stratford Hockey Club is well known across North America for its high level success in developing players to NCAA hockey.
