Tavistock outlasts Paris, 5-3
The game between the Tavistock Braves and the Paris Mounties was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Tavistock emerged with a 5-3 win.
No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Maverick Petrie at 14:29 of the third period.
The Braves were paced by Petrie, who grabbed one goal.
Tavistock racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Braves surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game.
Tavistock additionally got points from Kevan Hadad, who also had one goal and one assist and Greg Swan, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tavistock also had goals scored by James McHugh and Josh Borys, who each put in one. More assists for Tavistock came via Jake Wiffen and Tayler Trachsel, who each chipped in one.
Paris forced Tavistock goalie Ben Larder to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.
The Mounties were helped by Brodie Smith, who racked up one goal. Smith scored 11:07 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Griffin Heitshu picked up the assist. Paris also got points from Heitshu, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Paris also got a goal from Brady Wheelans as well. In addition, Paris received assists from Keegan Alvestad, Brett Wilson, Cole Corriveau, and Garrett Kirby, who contributed one each.
Larder recorded 32 saves for the Braves. Tavistock registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For the Braves, Kieran Van Boekel and Angus Rowland were ejected from the contest. Paris' Jake Gooder stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Mounties totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For Paris, Tysen Willemsen was ejected from the game.
