Lambeth downs Aylmer in overtime, 5-4 (OT)
The Lambeth Lancers' Ryan Pennington scored 10:11 into overtime to beat the Aylmer Spitfires, 5-4 (OT).
With the win, Lambeth evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.
Although the Lancers was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Aylmer kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Spitfires got to within 4-3 on a short handed goal by Luke Bettencourt at 14:12 in the third period.
Pennington had two goals to lead Lambeth to victory.
The Lancers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Lambeth kept Aylmer's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lucas Easterbrook made 33 saves on 38 shots.
Lambeth additionally got points from Eric Rivard, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Matt Schurr, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Warren Hargraves, who had two and Nick North, Kale Corbeth, Jay Ritchie, and Mike Frizzell, who each chipped in one.
The Lancers were unable to stop the Spitfires from sending pucks towards the net, and Aylmer eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.
The Spitfires were led by Dylan Salter, who racked up one goal and two assists. Salter scored 19:27 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Aylmer also got points from Andrew Goldberg, who also had one goal and one assist. Aylmer also got a goal from Cody Underhill as well. In addition, Aylmer received assists from Tyler Marr, who had one.
JP Trudell rejected 40 shots on goal for Lambeth. The Lancers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Aylmer incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
