Aylmer blows out Thamesford, 7-1

The Aylmer Spitfires had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Thamesford Trojans.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Thamesford faces elimination next time out.

The Trojans were stymied by Aylmer's netminder Andrew Harriman-Duke, who stopped 47 shots during the victory. The solid play of Harriman-Duke will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.0.

The Spitfires' penalty kill excelled, as Aylmer gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The Spitfires' offense rang up 54 shots on Thamesford's net.

Aylmer was helped by Cody Underhill, who finished with one goal. Underhill scored 9:05 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Aylmer. Spencer Roloson provided the assist. Aylmer also had goals scored by Josh Lockhart, who had four and Ryan Vandenbroek and Jesse Tottle, who scored one goal each. More assists for Aylmer came via Luke Vanderspank, who had two, Jesiah Sweetland, who had three, Luke Bettencourt, who had four, and Jake Morin and Brett Dzyngel, who each chipped in one.

The Trojans' offense rang up 48 shots on the Spitfires' net.

Aylmer incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Jake Bly rejected 47 shots on goal for Thamesford. The Trojans incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
