Stars Re-Sign Strathroy Three
The North Middlesex Stars are pleased to announce the team has successfully re-signed forwards Sam Baker and Jakob Rody, as well as defenseman Spencer Mullen for the 2018-19 PJHL Yeck Division Season.
Sam Baker, who will celebrate his 19th birthday later this week, will return for his second season with the Stars having enjoyed an extremely successful rookie campaign last season in Parkhill. The shifty forward was quick to establish his scoring touch having lit the lamp a total of 28 times last season, most of which left the fans, teammates, coaches and opponents wondering how that was possible. The rookie’s goal total was good enough for first place among his teammates and third in the Yeck Division. The Strathroy native Baker added 21 assists for a total of 49 points in 34 regular season games. Baker went on to take home the Yeck Division ‘Rookie of the Year’ Award as well as the team’s ‘Rookie of the Year Award.

Spencer Mullen, 18, will be returning for his third season with the Stars following a 2017-18 season where the Strathroy native really emerged as one of the better defenders in the league. Winner of the team’s ‘Sportsmanship Award’ last season, the smooth skating Mullen has made strides year over year and that will continue this year as many believe he is ready to jump into a leadership role with his Stars team this season. Going to school at Seneca in Toronto to become a pilot, Mullen appears ready for take off just in time for the 2018-19 PJHL season.

Jakob Rody, 20, will also return to the Stars for his third season in North Middlesex and his fourth and final season of junior hockey. Approaching 120 Jr. ‘C’ games, the Strathroy native will bring some much-needed tenacity and truculence back to the Stars this upcoming season. One of the league’s toughest customers, Rody, who wore an ‘A’ on his jersey last season brings his own genre of leadership qualities that are second to none and a huge part of the Stars locker room. The recipient of the team’s ‘Most Dedicated Player Award’ last season contributed 10 goals and 5 assists for 15 points in 33 appearances last season. Rody finished 3rd in the Yeck Division in penalty minutes behind teammate Colin Van Rooyen and Aylmer’s Tyler Hinde.
