Stars Re-Sign Veteran Hopkins
The North Middlesex Stars have announced that the team has successfully re-signed veteran defenseman Kain Hopkins for the 2018-19 PJHL season.
Hopkins, 21, returns to Parkhill for his fifth and final season of junior hockey after being acquired by the Stars prior to last season from the Blenheim Blades. The smooth skating Hopkins had a fantastic season with the Stars last season finishing atop the team in points among defenders. Native to Moraviantown, Hopkins narrowly missed a nomination to the Yeck Division 'All-Star' roster but did manage to take home the team's 'Most Underated Player' award at the team's award ceremony in April.
Coming off of the most productive season of his junior career, Head Coach Matt Melo had this to say about the return of Hopkins:
"Kain was a monster for us last year. He's a big game player who had a couple game winning goals for us last year. Now he has another year under his belt, and he's going to be that much better for us this year. He now has well over one hundred games played at our level and will continue to be someone we can lean on both on the ice and off the ice."
Welcome back Kain!
