The native of Thornhill, Ontario played the 2012-13 season as a member of the Don Mills Flyers Midget 'AAA' squad and would play six games, recording four points, with the Buzzers during the regular season.  Joining St. Michael's full-time for their playoff run, Marner was a key member, potting two goal during the clinching game seven of the OJHL Championship Series to down Newmarket and capture the club's first title since 2006.  Following the season, Marner would be selected in the first round, 19th overall, by the London Knights in the OHL Priority Selection.

Below is the official press release from the London Knights website (www.londonknights.com):

Mitchell Marner of the London Knights became the first Ontario Hockey League player to reach the 100-point milestone scoring a goal and one assist as part of a 4-1 home win over the Saginaw Spirit on Family Day.

Marner opened the scoring for the Knights with his 38th goal of the season at the 16:43 mark of the first period, and later set-up Matt Rupert on the powerplay at 12:01 of the third period for his 62nd helper of the season. See his 100th point here.

The sophomore forward enters the Knights' record books with the 46th 100-point season in franchise history and the first since John Tavares in 2008-09.  Tavares is the last of six Knights who captured the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as OHL scoring champion following Patrick Kane in 2007, Rob Schremp in 2006, Corey Perry in 2005, Jason Allison in 1994, and Dave Simpson in 1982.

The 17-year-old from Thornhill, ON, is a top prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft and was listed seventh among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting in their Midterm Rankings.  Marner, who turns 18-years-old on May 5, becomes the third youngest Knight to reach the milestone following Sam Gagner in 2006-07 and Jason Allison in 1992-93 who were also NHL Draft prospects during their respective 100-point seasons.

Marner is also the first 17-year-old to reach 100-points since 2011 when Ryan Strome of the Niagara IceDogs and Nail Yakupov of the Sarnia Sting hit the century mark.

Last season there were three 100-point scorers in the OHL including the Erie Otters tandem of Connor Brown and Dane Fox, along with Guelph Storm forward Scott Kosmachuk.  Coming into this season, a total of 42 players have scored 100-points since the start of the 2004-05 campaign.

The Otters' Dylan Strome currently sits second in OHL scoring with 98 points in 54 games, while Marner's teammate Christian Dvorak is third with 96 points in 53 games played.
