After a quick start as a rookie with 11 points in 18 games played, Gibson was traded to the nearby Hamilton Red Wings, where he notched a point/game and his 38 points tied for the fifth best total on the squad.
He would again split the 2010-11 season between two teams, registering 67 points in 48 regular season games played with Hamilton and Huntsville Otters. Gibson joined the Otters mid-season for their push as the host of the 2011 Dudley-Hewitt Cup, Central Canadian Junior 'A' Championship and he was named the club's playoff and Dudley-Hewitt Cup Most Valuable Player as they fell to the OJHL Champion Wellington Dukes, 5-3, in the championship game.
