Three former OJHL players have been named to rosters and will compete in the upcoming World Cup of Hockey taking place in Toronto, Ontario during September of 2016.

Ryan Callahan (pictured, photo courtesy of Getty Images/Tampa Bay Lightning) of the Tampa Bay Lightning was named a member of Team USA after competing for his country at the past two Olympic Winter Games.  Callahan spent parts of two seasons in the OJHL as a member of the Syracuse Jr. Crunch and the Buffalo Lightning (now Jr. Sabres) franchises.

Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks and finalist for the Norris Trophy as the NHL's Top Defenceman will join Team Canada at the event after leading his club to the Stanley Cup Final this season.  Burns has played in the World Junior Championship and four World Championships as a member of Team Canada.  He played one season in the OJHL as a 16-year old member of the Couchiching Terriers.

John Tavares, captain of the New York Islanders, will join Team Canada for the World Cup after previously played for his country at the World Under-17, World Under-18, World Junior, World Championship, Olympic Games and Spengler Cup.  Tavares played 20 games as a 14-year old affiliate with the Milton Icehawks, recording a remarkable 28 points against significantly older competition.

Congratulations to all three on being named to World Cup of Hockey rosters and best of luck in the Fall!
