Former Whitby Fury forward Jack Lewis (photo courtesy of Lake Forest Athletics), now with the Lake Forest College Foresters, was named the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week for his performance on opening weekend.

The London, Ontario native would play his minor midget 'AAA' season with the London Jr. Knights before a season of Junior 'B' with his hometown Nationals in 2010-11.  Lewis joined the Fury organization in 2011-12 as a 19-year old and would make an immediate impact, finishing sixth on the club in scoring with 16 goals and 31 points in 47 games played.  The hard-working forward made his presence felt even more so in helping lead the Fury to its first-ever OJHL Championship Series appearance, tying for the playoff lead with four game-winning goals along the way.  Named an alternate captain entering 2012-13, Lewis picked up where he left off, leading the Fury with 22 goals, while finishing third in overall scoring with 40 points in 52 games played.

Below is the official press release from the Lake Forest Athletics website (www.goforesters.com):

Lake Forest College men's hockey players Billy Cooper and Jack Lewis were named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, on Monday. They helped lead the Foresters to a series sweep of Concordia University Wisconsin over the weekend.

Cooper, a senior goaltender, recorded 27 saves in the team's 5-3 victory on the road Friday night before stopping 33 of 35 shots on goal in Saturday's 3-2 triumph at home. He finished the weekend with a .923 save percentage and 2.50 goals against average.

Lewis, a senior forward, recorded his second career hat trick on Friday. He scored the first goal of each period and his third was the official game-winner. Lewis also assisted on Saturday's game-winner to help complete the comeback victory.

NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of public relation and sports information.
