MAZIARZ COMMITS TO MERCYHURST
Joe Maziarz of the North York Rangers (photo credit – Andy Corneau/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Mercyhurst University Lakers in Erie, PA beginning with the 2019-20 season.
The native of Waterloo joined the Rangers for the 2016-17 season after playing minor hockey in the GTHL for the Toronto Marlboros, Toronto Jr. Canadiens and Vaughan Kings,
Maziarz specializes as a shutdown defender. Following a 24-point rookie season, the 18-year-old defenceman has five goals and 11 assists this year.
Earlier in the season, Maziarz played for the OJHL Hawerchuck squad during the Eastern Canada Cup tournament. Just prior to the Christmas break, Maziarz represented Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge.
