SECOND ROUND OF OJHL PLAYOFFS BEGINS THURSDAY
March 13, 2018, Mississauga, ON – The second round of the 2019 Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs begins Thursday, March 14, in North York and Whitby, Ont.
The North York Rangers host the St. Michael’s Buzzers in Game 1 of their ‘all-Toronto’ South Division championship series. Game time is 8:30 p.m. at the Herbert H. Carnegie Centre on Finch Avenue.
The East Division final between the defending OJHL champion Wellington Dukes and the Whitby Fury also opens Thursday. Game time is 8 p.m. at Iroquois Sports Centre in south Whitby.
The North Division championship series between a pair of York Region teams – the Markham Royals and Newmarket Hurricanes – opens Friday in Markham. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Markham Centennial Community Centre on McCowan Road.
The OJHL regular season champion Oakville Blades have earned a spot in the West final. They’ll face the winner of tonight’s Buffalo Jr. Sabres and Burlington Cougars tilt in Buffalo. Their opening-round series is tied 3-3. Game time is 7 p.m. at HarborCenter in downtown Buffalo.
The playoff champions of the OJHL win the Buckland Cup and a berth in the Dudley-Hewitt Cup, the Central Canada championships, at the Tim Horton Events Centre in Cochrane, ON May 1-5.
The Dudley-Hewitt champs advance to the national championship tournament, formerly the RBC Cup, May 11-19 in Brooks, Alta.
