COLLINGWOOD'S ROSE NAMED WARRIOR GOALTENDER OF MONTH
February 26, 2020, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Andrew Rose (Photo by Ray MacAloney / OJHL Images) of the Collingwood Colts has been named its Warrior Goaltender of the Month for February
Rose went 6-2-0, posting a 1.44 goals-against average with a .956 save percentage during February. He led all OJHL goalies this season with a 1.77 GAA. His .943 save percentage was second best to Brendan Bonello of Pickering. Rose’s record was 13-7-0.
The 19-year-old from Conception Bay South, NL joined the Colts from the Nepean Raiders on Nov. 30. His Junior A career also included three stops in the Maritime Junior A league – Pictou County, Grand Falls and Woodstock – from 2017-19.
The Colts will face the Stouffville Spirit in the opening round of the OJHL playoffs
Brendan Bonello of the Pickering Panthers was runner-up to Rose as the Goaltender-of-the-Month. The former Ontario Hockey League (Kingston, Saginaw) goaltender won the award last month.
The Mississauga native went 5-2-0 during February posting a 1.42 GAA and a .958 save percentage. He had two shutouts, helping the Panthers clinch the regular season title in the North Division of the OJHL. Pickering plays Georgetown the first round of the playoffs. Bonello has committed to the York University Lions for this fall.
