WELLINGTON'S HANNA COMMITS TO TORONTO VARSITY BLUES
Quinn Hanna of the Wellington Dukes (photo credit – Amy Deroche / OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the University of Toronto Varsity Blues beginning with the 2020-21 season.
Hanna returned to the Wellington Dukes in 2019-20 for a second season after playing major junior for two years. His CHL stops included the Guelph Storm, Peterborough Petes, Sherbrooke Phoenix and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
He was a fifth-round pick of the Storm in the 2015 OHL draft.
The 20-year-old defenceman reached his career best in points this year, finishing with 57 (16 goals/41 assists) – making him the highest-scoring defenceman in the league.
The 6-foot, 3-inch Peterborough product finished third on the Dukes in scoring. Hanna led the defensive core in Wellington to a first-place finish in both the East Division and the overall OJHL standings – earning them the 2019-20 Brant Snow Memorial Trophy.
The Varsity Blues had 17 OJHL alumni on their roster in 2019-20.
Congratulations to Quinn and best of luck in the OUA!
The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, had more than 125 NCAA, U Sports, CHL and professional commitments in 2018-19 – including 65 NCAA Division I scholarships.
