COLLINGWOOD RECRUIT COMMITS TO NCAA D1 ST. LAWRENCE
Collingwood Blues signee Isaac ‘Oakley’ MacLeod has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division 1 St. Lawrence University Skating Saints in Canton, NY beginning with the 2021-22 season.
The 18-year-old from Caledonia had 65 points, including 39 goals, in 35 games as an alternate captain with New Hampton School, a prep academy in New Hampshire, last season. He had 40 points at New Hampton the previous season.
MacLeod had 52 points (26 goals/26 assists) in 56 games with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U16 team in 2017-18.
“We are extremely happy for Oak and his family in choosing St. Lawrence to continue his academic and hockey career,” said Blues Director of Hockey Operations Jordan Selinger. “We are excited to be able to watch his development in Collingwood this season on the road to Canton, NY and SLU.”
Cole Hipken, a teammate of MacLeod’s at New Hampton, who will also play in Collingwood this season, has also committed to St. Lawrence, the Blues announced on their website.
OJHL alumni on St. Lawrence’s roster in 2019-20 included: Daniel Manella (Georgetown, Stouffville, Oakville), co-captain Ryan Garvey (Oakville, Toronto Patriots), Jeff Clarke (Oakville), Callum Cusinato (Orangeville, Georgetown, Toronto Jr. Canadiens), Alex Gilmour (Aurora, Stouffville), co-captain Michael Laidley (Aurora), Ted McGeen (Wellington) and Andrew McIntyre (Oakville).
