The defenceman from London, ON play two seasons (2018-20) with the Royals, amassing 22 points (5G/17A) in 99 OJHL games.

A product of the London Knights AAA minor hockey organization, the 20-year-old played one season with the Jr. B St. Thomas Stars before signing in Markham.

“Matt quietly for two seasons became our most reliable defensemen,” said Markham general manager and head coach Mike Galati. “He plays the game the right way, will do anything to win and is a very popular kid amongst his teammates.”

“Selfishly, I was hoping Matt would be back to play another year and help lead us to another successful season, but he is ready to play at the next level and we are extremely happy to see him move on. Matt will have success at any level.”

Adrian listed eight OJHL graduates on its 2020-21 roster, including former Royal Alessio Luciani, the OJ’s leading scorer, most improved player and first-team all-star in 2018-19. Luciani led the Bulldogs with 36 points (14G/22A) this season.

Congratulations to Matthew and best of luck in the NCAA!

The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, has had more than 120 NCAA, U Sports, CHL and professional commitments in 2019-20 – including more than 45 NCAA Division I scholarships.
