BURLINGTON’S FRANZOI COMMITTED TO NCAA D3 SKIDMORE
Matt Franzoi of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Burlington Cougars (photo credit - Spencer Smye | OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division III Skidmore College Thoroughbreds in Saratoga Springs, NY beginning with the 2022-23 season.
Franzoi had 16 goals and 29 assists in 49 games with the West Division regular season champion Cougars in 2021-22.
The Oakville product split 2019-20 between the Cougars and Brampton Admirals.
“Just a great character kid,” said Burlington Head Coach/General Manager Mark Jooris. “Matt Franzoi is a phenomenal skater who can play up and down your lineup. Matt does whatever he can to help the team.”
Franzoi played minor hockey in the Hamilton Bulldogs and Toronto Jr. Canadiens organizations.
Former OJHL players on Skidmore’s 2021-22 roster include Reid Russell (Kingston) and Freddie Ilias (Milton).
