OJHL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD

June 18, 2022, Oshawa, ON – ….  The Ontario Junior Hockey League held its annual general meeting at Durham College/Ontario Tech University in Oshawa today.

Highlights included:

The OJHL is returning to its two-conference alignment with the top eight teams in each conference qualifying for the playoffs. Inter-conference, crossover games return for the 2022-23 season. The conferences, North/West and South/East, remain the same. The Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the West Division are taking a leave of absence from the OJHL for a third season.

The OJHL Governors’ Showcase will take place September 19-21, 2022 in Cobourg, ON for the second straight season.

The OJHL All-Star Celebration weekend will be held January 13-14, 2023 in Collingwood, ON

The league will be conducting a pilot project using video review for goals.

Marc Mercier was elected as an OJHL Life Member joining previous OJHL Life Member Scott McCrory.

Scott McCrory and David Arsenault were elected to the Ontario Hockey Association board as the OJHL representatives.

The new OJHL Board of Directors elected today includes:

          Chair - Stuart Hyman - Markham Royals

          Vice-Chair - Ron Sedlbauer - Burlington Cougars

          Director - Jason Tryfon - Milton Menace 

          Director  - Dave Steele - Collingwood Blues

          Director  - Jim Thomson - Aurora Tigers

The Ontario Junior Hockey League is the largest Junior ‘A’ league operating under the auspices of the

Canadian Junior Hockey League with 22 member clubs. A proud member of the CJHL and Ontario

Hockey Association, the OJHL was originally named the Ontario Provincial Junior ‘A’ Hockey League and it was formed out of the Central Junior ‘B’ Hockey League in 1993-94. With a long and storied history of developing players for the next level, including U SPORTS, the NCAA, CHL, minor pro ranks and the NHL, the OJHL had more than 125 commitments in 2019-20– including more than 45 NCAA Division I scholarships.
