JRC DEFENCEMAN NAMED WARRIOR SOUTH-EAST PLAYER OF MONTH

January 6, 2023, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Cooper Bertrand (Photo by Andy Corneau / OJHL Images) of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens has been named the Warrior South-East Conference Player-of-the-Month for December. The defenceman tallied 12 points during six games. His five goals included one on the power play and the game-winner in the Canadiens’ 3-2 victory over Georgetown Dec. 18 .

Bertrand leads all OJHL defencemen in points this season with 47 (16 goals/ 31 assists) in 36 games.

The 20-year-old from Caledon signed with Toronto ahead of the pandemic-scuttled 2020-21 season.

Bertrand played minor hockey for the Toronto Titans and Halton Hurricanes. 

The Jr. Canadiens play in Lindsay tonight.

 

Boyd Stahlbaum of the Haliburton County Huskies was runner-up to Bertrand as the South-East Conference Player-of-the-Month. The Peterborough native had nine goals and three assists in eight games. He’s second in points across the OJHL with 60 in 37 games, split between Haliburton County and the Lindsay Muskies.
